I was looking for an oatmeal recipe that was tasty and different from the usual boring plain oatmeal, but still healthy and packed with energy to start the day off right. So I came up with this indulgent and yummy Chocolate Banana Oatmeal and I LOVE IT.
My boyfriend and official recipe tester approved it, so i guess i will be making this often.
I have always loved figs, they are one of my favourite fruit and now that they are in season I added them on top of the oatmeal and they made everything so scrumptious.
It tastes like dessert for breakfast! Who doesn’t love that!
Let me know if you try it!
Takes 10 minutes – Makes: 2
- 1 cup Porridge Oats
- 2 cups Milk ( I’ve used Almond Milk, Coconut Milk is delicious too)
- 1 over-ripe Banana, smashed
- 1 tablespoon Cocoa or Cacao Powder
- 1 tablespoon Honey
- Fresh Fruit of your choice ( I’ve used Figs and Blueberries)
- Greek Yogurt
- Seeds & Nuts of your choice
- Shredded Coconut
Combine the oats, milk and the banana in a saucepan.
Cook on a low heat until the oats starts to bubble (about 5 minutes), stirring occasionally.
Add the cocoa powder and honey.
Pour into a bowl and top with the fruit, spoon the yogurt on top and add the rest of the toppings. Drizzle with some honey and serve.
